Please report on time to the MTC at 7:30 a.m. on the Saturday when you are assigned to arrive.
Your mission begins when you enter the MTC. Please complete all preparation and purchases of clothing and personal items before you arrive. Personal time in the MTC is limited; you will not have time to leave the MTC for personal shopping.
Please take care of all health requirements, including immunizations, dental care, eye examinations, necessary medications, and follow-up treatment, before you arrive. Complete all medical tests requested on the Missionary Immunization/Preventive Medication Requirements form.
You will be set apart as a full-time missionary by your stake or mission president. If you desire, arrange for and receive a father's blessing and/or your patriarchal blessing from your local stake patriarch, if applicable. The MTC does not arrange for missionaries to receive patriarchal blessings during their training, except for very rare cases, such as for missionaries coming from some Asian countries that do not have stakes and patriarchs.
Bring the following when you come to the MTC:
- Items on the mission clothing list sent from the Missionary Department
- Soap and towel
- Appropriate exercise clothing (five gym periods per week, one laundry day)
- Current temple recommend
- Money for personal items and, if necessary, transportation from the airport (See “How will my expenses be handled?”)
- Government-issued photo ID (such as, driver's license, passport, military ID) or any ID that has your name and picture, such as a school ID. This ID is required by airport authorities.
- A copy of your completed Missionary Immunization/Preventive Medication Requirements form
Please put your name on all clothing, luggage, and other belongings.
Report to the missionary training center dressed in missionary attire with a proper missionary haircut.

If you need transportation from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport terminals to the MTC, you will receive information from the area Church travel office concerning arrangements. Your stake or mission president will assist you in making these arrangements.
Regular missionary attire is the standard for dress at the MTC. Elders should be sure to wear a white shirt and tie and dark slacks. For more information on missionary dress and grooming, please refer to your call packet or see dress and grooming guidelines.
All bedding supplies and meals are provided. Laundry facilities and a barber shop are also available.
You do not need to bring money to the MTC for room and board, training materials, laundry, or other essential personal care items. However, you must provide your own spending money for purchase of temple garments and other miscellaneous expenses, such as stamps, snacks, haircuts, and so on.
Expenses for mailing personal letters to family and friends can be paid at the MTC front desk.
Close family members may bring you to the MTC. They may be allowed to drop you and your luggage off at the curb and entrance to the MTC and very briefly say good-bye to you. They will not be invited into the MTC. We request that you have your farewell activities with close family prior to your arrival at the MTC. There will be no opportunity for picture taking. Thank you for your cooperation in this process.
Please do not arrange for family members or friends to visit you in the MTC or in the Manila Temple. All communications with others should be limited to weekly letters and/or weekly family e-mails.
You should make every effort to receive all immunizations before entering the MTC. Otherwise, you will be given a series of required vaccinations while you are in the MTC.
The area travel office will make arrangements for your travel to the mission field. They will also give you official passport and visa instructions. Please follow these instructions carefully. You may be requested to send certain personal documents to obtain a visa. If these documents are not submitted on time, your departure to the field may be delayed. Your departure may also be delayed because visas to certain countries are difficult to obtain.
