Frequently Asked Questions for U.S. and Canadian Residents

My signature does not match the name printed on my passport. Is that a problem?

It will not be a problem.

Do missionaries need to send in their passport to Missionary Travel?

No. Missionaries need to scan and email a color copy of their passport ID page and photo as instructed to the email on your instruction sheet. Missionaries will keep their original passport.

Do missionaries need to get a visa for Peru before they leave?

No, a visa is not obtained before missionaries travel to the mission. Missionaries will travel to Peru using only their passport and enter the country as a visitor. Their 2-year residency visa will be applied for after their arrival in Peru.

If missionaries are attending the Lima Missionary Training Center, Missionary Travel will email travel instructions and a final itinerary within 2 weeks before the missionary training center entry date. Missionaries must print out the itinerary and the travel instructions and take them along with their passport to the airport.

How will parents know if their missionary has arrived at the Lima Missionary Training Center?

Due to the numbers of missionaries traveling at any one time, neither Missionary Travel nor the missionary training centers will notify parents when missionaries arrive. Arrangements will be made to have the missionaries met and picked up from the Lima airport and transported to the missionary training center. Each international missionary training center operates differently. You should receive an email from your missionary on the first available preparation day.
