Mutual and Other Activities

“And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man” (Luke 2:52).

Activities provide an opportunity for youth to meet in a social setting, apply gospel principles taught on Sunday, strengthen their testimonies, give service, develop wholesome relationships and communication skills, and reach out to those who are less active or in need. We gather youth to give them opportunities to have Spirit-filled fun.

Annual Theme

Each year the First Presidency selects a scriptural theme for Mutual. Use this theme in planning class and Mutual activities. It could be used as a theme for talks at opening exercises, as a camp or youth conference theme, or as a special emphasis for a large service project or cultural event.

  • 2017 Mutual Theme: “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” (James 1:5–6)
  • 2016 Mutual Theme: “Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life” (2 Nephi 31:20).
  • 2015 Mutual Theme: “Therefore, O ye that embark in the service of God, see that ye serve him with all your heart, might, mind and strength, that ye may stand blameless before God at the last day” (D&C 4:2).
