Visiting Temple Square in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah, during the Christmas season is a yearly tradition for many families and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for others.
Tickets and reservations for the various 2014 Christmas programs and events are available beginning October 14, and due to the popularity of the events, tickets tend to get snatched up quickly.
Savior of the World Musical
Friday, November 21, 2014, through Saturday, January 3, 2015, 7:30 p.m., Conference Center Theater
Purchase tickets for this annual production about the life of Jesus Christ beginning Tuesday, October 21, online or by calling 1-866-LDS-TIKS beginning at 10:00 a.m. Shows are Tuesdays through Saturdays (except holidays), with an additional matinee on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Children eight years and older are welcome.
The Lights on Temple Square
Friday, November 28, dusk
Christmas season on Temple Square officially opens each year when the millions of Christmas lights are turned on for the the first time the day after Thanksgiving.
For 2014, lights will be turned on at dusk on Friday, November 28. No tickets are necessary and all ages are welcome.
Christmas on Temple Square Opening Concert
Saturday, November 29, at 7:30 p.m. in the Tabernacle
The opening concert for the Christmas on Temple Square concert series is by We Also Sing women's choir and Because We Sing men's chorus, directed by Merrilee Webb.
It will be Saturday, November 29, at 7:30 p.m. in the Tabernacle. Tickets are required but they are free and can be obtained beginning October 14 on lds.org/events or by calling 801-570-0080. All ages are welcome.
Many additional choirs and other musical ensembles of all genres will continue to perform in various locations on Temple Square from November 29 through December 31. View or download a detailed schedule of these free performances.
Latino Christmas Concert
Friday and Saturday, December 5–6, in the Tabernacle
The three Utah areas of the Church will present a Latino Christmas concert, “Luz de las naciones: Ven a mi casa esta Navidad,” in the Salt Lake Tabernacle on Temple Square on Friday and Saturday, December 5 and 6, 2014, at 8:00 p.m., with a matinee performance on Saturday, December 6, at 2:00 p.m.
Tickets can be obtained online at lds.org/events and at the Conference Center ticket office by calling 801-570-0080 (locally) or 1-866-LDS-TIKS (toll-free). Tickets are free of charge and will be available to the public starting Tuesday, October 28, 2014.
Sunday, December 7, in the Conference Center Auditorium (also broadcast via satellite)
The annual Christmas devotional is Sunday, December 7, in the Conference Center auditorium and will be broadcast throughout the world via the Church satellite system. Various Church leaders will speak, and music will be provided by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and the Orchestra at Temple Square.
Free tickets are required and there is a limit of six tickets per person. Tickets can be obtained beginning Friday, October 17, 2014, at 10:00 a.m., or by calling 801-570-0080 (locally) or toll-free 1-866-537-8457 (1-866-LDS-TIKS) beginning at 10:00 a.m. Tickets may also be obtained in person at the ticket office located at door 4 of the Conference Center.
Mormon Tabernacle Choir Christmas Concert
Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, December 11–14, Conference Center Auditorium
The Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square will present their annual Christmas concerts in the Conference Center in Salt Lake City on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, December 11–14. Mack Wilberg and Ryan Murphy will conduct the concerts. Special guest performers will be announced on October 16.
Free tickets for these concerts and the Music and the Spoken Word broadcast are required. Because of very high demand for tickets to this event, tickets are distributed through a random selection process.
Those interested may register on the Internet at www.lds.org/events for the opportunity to receive tickets from Saturday, October 18, 2014, at 12:01 a.m. through Monday, October 27, 2014, at 11:59 p.m.
Those without Internet access may register over the phone at 801-570-0080 (locally) or at 1-866-537-8457. All registrations received during those two weeks will have equal chances at receiving tickets in the random selection process.
Not all registrations will be selected to receive tickets, and only one registration per household can be accepted. If you attempt to register more than once, your initial registration will automatically be canceled. More information.
