February Faith Lecture to Highlight Neal A. Maxwell's Life
- February 13, 2014
- Salt Lake City, Utah, USA
The Church History Library will host the Men and Women of Faith lecture “Neal A. Maxwell: The Story of a Disciple’s Life” on Thursday, February 13, at 7:00 p.m. in the Assembly Hall. The presenter will be Elder Bruce C. Hafen. This event is free and open to the public.
As a member of the First Quorum of the Seventy, Elder Hafen served in Area Presidencies in Australia, Europe, and the North America Central Area. During October general conference in 1999, Elder Neal A. Maxwell asked Elder Hafen to write his biography. Shortly after returning home in August 2000 from serving in Australia, Elder Hafen embarked on the spiritual journey of fulfilling Elder Maxwell’s request.
In this lecture, Elder Hafen will speak of the miracles, hardships, and divine guidance given to him as he engaged in telling Elder Maxwell’s story. Elder Hafen noted about his experience, “When we tell our own stories to others, we realize that the cosmic quest to overcome evil and find God is our very personal quest.” By studying the life of Elder Neal A. Maxwell, Elder Hafen discovered a clear pattern to become a true disciple of the Savior. Elder Hafen will expound upon portions of Elder Maxwell’s biography, as well as share personal experiences and learnings.
This event is part of the 2014 Men and Women of Faith lecture series sponsored by the Church History Library. Lectures are held the second Thursday of every month at 7:00 p.m. in the Assembly Hall on Temple Square, 50 North West Temple. Validated parking is available at the Conference Center. As you enter the Conference Center parking, inform the attendant that you are going to a lecture and ask for a token to use when you exit.
