The annual Relief Society Music Festival will be held at 7:30 p.m. mountain daylight time on Friday, October 26, 2012, at the Assembly Hall on Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA.

Each year, the Music Division of the Church’s Priesthood Department receives hundreds of music submissions, which are segmented into three categories and reviewed once a year. The Relief Society Music festival is an opportunity for select pieces from the Relief Society category to be performed by a choir that includes a local stake or groups of stakes, said Diane Bastian, music manager in the Leader Training and Activities Division of the Priesthood Department. A similar concert is held for the “general” category (which includes songs, children’s songs, hymns, hymn arrangements, anthems, and instrumental pieces) and the “hymn texts” category in February of each year.

“This is an opportunity to find new music to use in the Church and to allow people the opportunity to contribute and use their talents,” Sister Bastian said.
