David F. Evans

David F. Evans was sustained as a General Authority Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 2, 2005. He was given emeritus status on October 2, 2021.

Personal Life

David F. Evans was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on August 11, 1951. He married Mary Dee Shepherd in January 1973. They are the parents of eight children.

In 1976 he received a bachelor of science degree from the University of Utah in community health education. In 1979 he received his juris doctor from Brigham Young University.

He has served in a number of Church callings, including full-time missionary in the Japan Mission, bishop, stake president, and president of the Japan Nagoya Mission (1998–2001).

Professional Life

From 2009 to 2011 David F. Evans served as an assistant executive director in the Priesthood and Missionary Departments. From 2011 to 2015 he served as the Executive Director of the Missionary Department. He has also served as an assistant executive director in the Temple Department. He currently serves as the Asia Area President.

His professional career involved working as an attorney and as an executive for an investment banking firm.
