Paul V. Johnson

Elder Paul V. Johnson was sustained as a General Authority Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 2, 2005.

Church Service

Elder Paul V. Johnson was sustained as a General Authority Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 2, 2005, at the age of 51. Following his call as a General Authority, he served as a counselor in the Chile Area Presidency and as the Europe Area President. He also served as the Commissioner of the Church Educational System for nine years.

Elder Johnson was named a member of the Presidency of the Seventy on August 1, 2021. He currently assists three members of the Quorum of the Twelve in supervising the Asia Area, the Asia North Area, and the North America Northeast Area.

He has served in a number of Church callings, including full-time missionary in the Norway Oslo Mission, elders quorum president, bishop, counselor in a stake presidency, and Area Seventy.

Professional Life

Elder Johnson graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor of arts degree in 1977, a bachelor of science degree in 1978, and a master of education degree in 1982. He went on to earn a doctor of education degree from Utah State University in 1989.

Personal Life

Paul Vere Johnson was born in Gainesville, Florida, on June 24, 1954. He married Jill Washburn in August 1976. They are the parents of nine children.
