Elder Won Yong Ko

Second Quorum of the Seventy 2005-2011

Elder Won Yong Ko was called to serve as a member of the Second Quorum of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 2, 2005, at age 59. He was called as an Area Authority in August 1995. In April 1997, he was called as a member of the Third Quorum of the Seventy and an Area Authority Seventy in the Asia North Area.

Elder Ko is a graduate of the College of Engineering of Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea. He was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree in electrical engineering in 1968. He has worked as an executive for IBM Korea since 1973 and most recently as a managing director. In 2001, he joined Hanjin Information Systems and Telecommunications as president and CEO until 2003.

Since joining the Church in 1962, Elder Ko has served in numerous callings, including stake executive secretary, clerk of the Pusan Korea Mission, stake high councilor, president of the Seoul Korea East Stake, and director of public affairs for Korea. He was a Regional Representative from 1988 to 1995.

Won Yong Ko was born in Pusan, Korea, on October 15, 1945. He married Eun-Hee Kim in 1978. They are the parents of two children.
