Christmas lights on historic Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah, will be turned on Friday, November 25, 2016, the day after Thanksgiving.

Christmas season on Temple Square officially opens each year when the millions of Christmas lights are turned on for the first time the day after Thanksgiving.

For 2016, the Christmas lights, displays, and musical performances will run from the day after Thanksgiving until New Year’s Eve, November 25 to December 31, 2016. All Christmas on Temple Square and EVE events are free, and all ages are welcome.

Concerts on Temple Square begin Saturday, November 26, at noon, and run through Friday, December 23. Performances are throughout the day in the Tabernacle, the Assembly Hall, the North Visitors' Center, the Church History Museum, the Conference Center, the lobby of the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, and the lobby of the Church Office Building.

View or download a detailed schedule of these free performances, which do not require tickets.

Guests are encouraged to return Thursday through Saturday, December 29–31, for EVE Winter Fest on Temple Square. Performances are each evening, culminating in a mirrored-ball light show at midnight New Year’s Eve on West Temple by the Salt Palace. All EVE performances on Temple Square are free and open to all ages, and tickets or passes are not required. (Please note that other downtown EVE events require an entrance pass; visit eveslc.com for more information.) Plan to arrive early to allow for parking and traffic congestion.

See the schedule for more details about Christmas and EVE performances and activities.
