A First in Service: Member to Lead National Organization of Athletic Administrators

The National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association preserves, enhances, and promotes educational-based athletics through the professional development of interscholastic athletic administrators.

  • Richard Barton is the first Utahn and Church member to be president of the NIAAA.

Richard Barton, a Church member from Richfield, Utah, is the first person from Utah to serve as president of the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA).

Brother Barton was elected president-elect of the organization at the national conference in Orlando, Florida, in December.

The NIAAA preserves, enhances, and promotes educational-based athletics through the professional development of interscholastic athletic administrators. It is fully accredited by Advanced Ed as a leading service organization related to education.

“This is a great opportunity to serve alongside some of the most service-minded people in our country,” Brother Barton said.

Brother Barton is a former bishop of the Richfield 11th Ward. He currently serves as a Young Men president. He is the athletic director and assistant principal at Richfield High School Richfield, Utah.
