  • Church Donates 700 Heart Pillows

    More than 700 colourful heart-shaped pillows for mastectomy patients have been made and presented with love to Whangaparaoa’s Gerti Weber, who started New Zealand’s Heart Pillow Project earlier this year.     Young members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in New Zealand are responding with enthusiasm to Church President Thomas S. Monson's announcement earlier this month that men can now serve as missionaries at age 18, and young women at age 19. Formerly, male missionaries could serve from the age of 19, and young women from the age of 21.  Full Story

  • Opotiki Branch Responds to Neighbourhood Fire

    A house, just three doors down from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints' chapel in Ford Street, Opotiki, was home to a large extended family. It was destroyed on Saturday 28 April 2012 after a fire broke out. Community support agencies were contacted for emergency help. One of those agencies contacted is managed by a member of the Church in Opotiki, Maude Maxwell.  Full Story
