  • “It Rained, though the Ground Was Not Wet”

    The village of Sala-Jama is one of 22 sites along the border of Ethiopia and Somalia that received water last year through a partnership between the Church and a charity called International Relief and Development. That effort was part of a coordinated response to the drought in East Africa and just one of 111 emergencies and disasters the Church responded to last year in 90 countries.  Full Story

    Natural disasters across the globe, including the Japan earthquake, made 2011 the costliest year of disasters on record, according to a report issued by LDS Welfare Services.   • England Stake Stamps Out Poverty

    Members of the Coventry England Stake have been actively engaged in their community by collecting used stamps for Oxfam and Leukaemia Care, both nonprofit organizations that then sell the stamps and donate the proceeds to alleviate poverty worldwide and fund medical research, respectively.  Full Story
