    Dallin Watene-Zelesniak and Halauafu Lavaka of the U18's Penrith Panthers squad are reaping the fruits of their labours on and off the field by balancing family, faith and football. Both young men of Minchinbury and Fairfield 1st Ward respectively, are on the rise in their respective Rugby League careers, but attribute their success to their family and faith in Jesus Christ. They are in their senior years of secondary school at the prestigious Rugby League nursery, Patrician Brothers College Blacktown, playing at the junior representative level and actively engaged in the programmes of the Church.  Full Story

  • Braeside Latter-day Saints Restore Youth Site

    200 members of the Braeside Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints recently set out to repaint, repair, and refurbish Mornington Peninsula Youth Enterprises. In addition to the manpower, the Church donated $5000 worth of materials and tools to the project.  Full Story

  • Sunshine Coast Youth Serves Refugees in Thailand

    While other year 12 graduates spend "Schoolies" sleeping and celebrating, Laura Fairbanks, a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was hard at work in a remote mountain village of Thailand.Laura with nine-month old child left at Musikee HRDC Laura helped teach English, sew clothes, and cook for refugees in Musikee, where The Hilltribe Resource Development Centre (HRDC) has set up accommodation for victims of tribal persecution occurring in Myanmar (Burma).  Full Story

    Hannah Sims, age 12, spends a lot of her free time at the Family History Centre of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Ancestral research is a hobby she is learning from her grandmother, Ruth Pryor, who has been a genealogist for forty years.  Full Story

  • 1500 Paper Cranes Made for Leukaemia Patient

    Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Prospect Ward produced over 1500 origami paper cranes as a get well wish. The project was headed up by young women wanting to help eighteen-year old Roseanne May of Kangaroo Island who had a bone marrow transplant to combat leukemia. "My mum told me the story of Sadako and the thousand paper cranes, so we decided to make cranes for Roseanne,'' Georgia Wilson, age thirteen, recalls. "The story says that someone who makes 1000 paper cranes will get one wish, and we wanted to give her that wish."  Full Story
