The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is inviting the Latino community along the Wasatch Front to participate in October’s upcoming Latino Cultural Celebration by auditioning in June for the choirs and dance groups that will be performing.

As in past years, thousands of Spanish-speaking members from the community will gather for the festive cultural event, which will include music, songs, and dances in the Conference Center at 7:00 p.m. on October 26 and 27. This year’s program will commemorate the coming of Jesus Christ to the ancient civilizations of the New World.

“Our goal is to gather the local Latino community, rich in heritage, to share in an evening of music, dance, and inspirational messages,” said Malcolm Botto, artistic director for the event.

Event coordinators are looking for 364 adults and 120 children (ages 8–12 years) to form an adult choir and a children's choir. Experienced folkdance groups representing Latin American, Pacific Islander, and Native American cultures are also being sought to perform in the celebration.

All participants, regardless of past involvement, are required to audition.

Interested individuals can schedule an audition at audiciones.notlong.com or by sending a request via e-mail to elencosud@ChurchofJesusChrist.org.
