BYU Still Top Stone-Cold Sober School
For the 18th straight year, BYU has been named as the top “stone-cold sober” school by the Princeton Review, based on a survey of 136,000 students at 380 colleges.

For the 18th straight year, BYU has been named as the top “stone-cold sober” school by the Princeton Review, based on a survey of 136,000 students at 380 colleges.
The Princeton Review, a college admissions company that tutors students in standardized testing and their college options, released the list Monday, August 3. The listing is included in its publication “The 380 Best Colleges,” an annual prospectus of the top colleges in America.
A report by Andy Larsen posted on KSL.com states that BYU has been at the top of the stone-cold sober list since 1997, when the Princeton Review first introduced the list.
“Rounding out the top five of the list this year were College of the Ozarks in Missouri, Wheaton College in Illinois, Grove City College in Pennsylvania, and the United States Military Academy in New York,” the KSL posting stated.
“Our 62 ranking lists provide students with a way to see the types of colleges that could help them achieve their future goals and dreams,” Robert Franek, Princeton Review’s senior vice president-publisher, said, according to the KSL posting.
The company asked an average of 358 students per college 80 questions each about their school’s operation, in areas ranging from academics to student life.
BYU placed in the top five in eight categories:
No. 1 in Got Milk?
No. 1 in Most Religious Students
No. 1 in Scotch and Soda, Hold the Scotch
No. 2 in Don’t Inhale
No. 4 in 2015 Top Entrepreneurial Programs: Undergraduate
No. 4 in Best-Run Colleges
No. 4 in Future Rotarians and Daughters of the American Revolution
No. 5 in Most Conservative Students
Also, BYU was named one of the best private schools in the category of “Colleges That Pay You Back,” Impact Schools, and one of the colleges with the “Best Alumni Network.”
