Church Announces Eight New MTC Presidents for January 2016

Eight new missionary training center presidents and their wives have been called by the First Presidency and will begin their service in January.

South Africa MTC

Stephen Kent Ashton, 67, and Wendy DeLaMare Ashton, eight children, Washington Fields 8th Ward, St. George Utah Washington Fields Stake: South Africa MTC, succeeding President Philip L. Collins and Sister Patricia Collins. Brother Ashton is a ward Young Men adviser and is a former president of the Washington Everett Mission, bishop, high councilor, temple ordinance worker, and missionary in the New Zealand Mission. Retired business owner. Born in Salt Lake City to Marvin Jeremy Ashton and Norma Bernston Ashton.

Sister Ashton serves as a ward Young Women adviser. Previously she served with her husband in the Washington Everett Mission and as a ward Relief Society president, seminary teacher, and temple ordinance worker. Born in Salt Lake City to John Chevalier DeLaMare and Vila Jeanne Winter DeLaMare.

Argentina MTC

Evrett Wade Benton, 67, and Cheryl Chapman Benton, four children, Park City Ward, Park City Utah Stake: Argentina MTC, succeeding President Lance T. Willis and Sister Margie Willis. Brother Benton is a former president of the Argentina Buenos Aires West Mission, bishop, bishopric counselor, high councilor, stake mission president, stake and ward Young Men president, and temple ordinance worker. President and CEO, Stellar Senior Living LLC. Born in Vernal, Utah, to Evrett Lee Benton and Adelaide Cortes Benton.

Sister Benton served with her husband in the Argentina Buenos Aires West Mission and is a former stake Relief Society president, ward Young Women and Primary president, ward Young Women adviser, temple ordinance worker, and seminary teacher. Born in Seattle, Washington, to Eugene Henry Chapman and Marilyn Openshaw Chapman.

Chile MTC

Richard Bryant Brady, 62, and Janice Manwaring Brady, three children, Canyon View 9th Ward, Orem Utah Canyon View Stake: Chile MTC, succeeding President Sherman L. Doll and Sister Linda Doll. Brother Brady is a ward mission leader and a former president of the California Carlsbad Mission, stake president, MTC district president, bishop, and missionary in the Bolivia Mission. Partner, Jett Innovations. Born in Provo, Utah, to Bryant Lamar Brady and Gladys Benson Brady.

Sister Brady is a Relief Society teacher. She served with her husband in the California Carlsbad Mission and is a former ward Young Women president and ward Relief Society and Primary presidency counselor. Born in Vernal, Utah, to Verdon A Manwaring and Rea Pope Manwaring.

Ghana MTC

Scott McDonald Brubaker, 63, and Rebecca Patterson Brubaker, five children, Dutch Canyon Ward, Midway Utah Stake: Ghana MTC, succeeding President Reid A. Robison and Sister Diane Robison. Brother Brubaker is a bishopric counselor and a former president of the Belgium/Netherlands Mission, bishop, stake Young Men president, and missionary in the France-Belgium Mission. Partner, Smith Brubaker Haacke Development. Born in Salt Lake City to Joseph Junior Brubaker and Helen Sims McDonald Brubaker.

Sister Brubaker serves with her husband in a young single adult ward and served with him in the Belgium/Netherlands Mission. She is a former stake Relief Society presidency counselor, ward Relief Society and Young Women president, and missionary in the France Paris Mission. Born in Salt Lake City to Alma Thomas Patterson and Chesla June Seely Patterson.

Brazil MTC

Paulo Renato Grahl, 67, and Zuleika Morais Grahl, four children, Vila Sônia Ward, São Paulo Brazil Stake: Brazil MTC, succeeding President Robert P. Swensen and Sister Julie Swensen. Brother Grahl is a stake patriarch and stake institute teacher and a former Area Seventy, president of the Brazil Brasilia Mission, stake president, branch president, and church-building missionary. Translator, Special Projects, Corporation of the Presiding Bishop. Born in Novo Hamburgo, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, to Albino Grahl and Iracema Oliveira Grahl.

Sister Grahl is a stake Young Women presidency counselor. She served with her husband in the Brazil Brasilia Mission and is a former stake Relief Society president and ward Young Women president. Born in Uruguaiana, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, to Romeu Morais and Gelsa Varallo Morais.

Peru MTC

Garry Keith Moore, 74, and LaNell Lines Moore, nine children, Mueller Park 4th Ward, Bountiful Utah Mueller Park Stake: Peru MTC, succeeding President José L. González and Sister Monica Buitrago de Gonzalez. Brother and Sister Moore are former senior missionary coordinators in the Temple Department. Brother Moore is a former president of the Argentina Buenos Aires West Mission, Europe Area executive secretary, Madrid Spain Temple president, bishop, and missionary in the Central American Mission. Administrator, Seminaries and Institutes. Born in Alamosa, Colorado, to Keith Smith Moore and Verlene V. Reed.

Sister Moore served with her husband in the Argentina Buenos Aires West Mission and is a former Europe Area assistant executive secretary, Madrid Spain Temple matron, Relief Society general board member, and stake Young Women presidency counselor. Born in Phoenix, Arizona, to Wilton Henry Lines and Theda Butler Lines.

Guatemala MTC

Dan W. Morris, 64, and DeLayne Littlefair Morris, seven children, Los Altos Ward, Mesa Arizona Alma Stake: Guatemala MTC, succeeding President Robert T. Cox and Sister Rebecca Cox. Brother Morris is a former president of the Peru Lima North Mission, stake presidency counselor, bishop, high councilor, and missionary in the Guatemala-El Salvador Mission. Retired vice president, The Northern Trust Company. Born in Safford, Arizona, to Max Arnold Morris and Cherrial Josaphine Woods Morris.

Sister Morris served with her husband in the Peru Lima North Mission and is a former ward Relief Society, Young Women, and Primary president; seminary and institute instructor; temple ordinance worker; and missionary in the Uruguay-Paraguay Mission. Born in Salt Lake City to John Harry Littlefair and Vivian Viola Wallin Littlefair.

Spain MTC

Robert Noel Packer, 60, and Shelley Holmgren Packer, five children, Lafayette Ward, Oakland California Stake: Spain MTC, succeeding President Kenneth D. Lovell and Sister Susan Lovell. Brother Packer is a ward Young Men adviser and a former Area Seventy, president of the California San Diego Mission, bishop, high councilor, and missionary in the Uruguay-Paraguay Mission. Self-employed. Born in Brigham City, Utah, to Leon Claron Packer and Lou Jean Scoffield Packer.

Sister Packer is a Primary teacher. She served with her husband in the California San Diego Mission and is a former stake Primary presidency counselor and ward Young Women adviser. Born in Salt Lake City to Lynn Stuart Holmgren and Mary Merle Cannon Anderson Holmgren.
