“As members prayerfully learn and teach from the scriptures, their testimonies will grow and they will receive greater direction in their daily lives.” —The First Presidency
The First Presidency has announced a new translation of the triple combination of the scriptures in Croatian at Svetapisma.lds.org and in the Gospel Library mobile app. Printed copies of the new scriptures will begin to be available by March 31, 2017.
Though Croatian-speaking members are encouraged to obtain personal copies of the printed copies of the new triple when it is released in March, the First Presidency has stated that for Russian- and Icelandic-speaking members, they “are not expected to obtain a new set of scriptures as a result of this updated edition.” Because the new edition maintains the same page numbers and font style of the earlier edition, most members will notice little if any difference. This consistency allows members to continue using their current scriptures.
“The scriptures are one of the greatest gifts the Lord has provided to us that we may know His mind and will,” said Elder D. Todd Christofferson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. “This update will help us in regular day-to-day study as well as occasions of more in-depth study of the scriptures. That, in turn, can lead us to better listen to and act upon the promptings of the Spirit.”
The styles that are available for these scriptures are outlined for Russian and Icelandic and can be ordered through local Distribution Services retail centers or store.lds.org. When the Croatian is available at the end of March, 2017, it will be available in these styles.
