  • 4 December 2012

In late October, Superstorm Sandy struck the coastlines of New York and New Jersey, becoming one of the largest storms to ever hit the United States, impacting 24 states. The Church continues to respond to needs with volunteers assisting throughout the impacted area.

During the Thanksgiving weekend more than 6,500 Church volunteers, including members from several stakes from outside the area, provided support in New York and New Jersey.

To date, 21,428 volunteers have provided 196,882 hours of service, according to Church Welfare Services.
