WASHINGTON, ILLINOIS

No members or missionaries were injured during a powerful late-season storm system that spawned 81 tornadoes, impacting 12 Midwest states and leaving hundreds homeless on Sunday, November 17.

Nine member homes in Washington, Illinois, and one member home in Kokomo, Indiana, were damaged in the storms, according to a Church welfare report. In addition, the Normal Ward meetinghouse in the Peoria Illinois Stake received minor hail damage.

Local Church leaders are providing assistance to members with needs.

The storms caused nine fatalities and numerous injuries in Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan. Hundreds of homes were damaged or destroyed. Some 750,000 people lost power during the storms.
