Church Testifies of Christ through Stained-Glass Nativity Story

An image of the wise men referred to in Matthew 2:1–2, 11. Mormon.org is sharing the stained glass images to encourage people to read the Nativity story in the scriptures.

Stained-glass art has traditionally been used in Christian churches and cathedrals for hundreds of years. It is part of the history of Christianity and holds great meaning for Christians.
Using the striking and beautiful imagery of stained glass, the Church has created a series of digital pieces of art that members can share online during the Christmas season.
“As members of the Church, we love and seek to follow Jesus Christ,” said Elder David F. Evans, a member of the Seventy and the Executive Director of the Missionary Department. “This is a wonderful time of year to share our belief in the Savior with the world. These images share the Nativity story in a simple but beautiful way, reaffirming the divine life and mission of Jesus Christ.”
By sharing this commissioned artwork from the Church, it is hoped that people will reaffirm in their minds that members of the Church follow the Savior and His teachings. “We feel our friends of other faiths will identify with not only the use of stained-glass art but also the teachings depicted from the Old and New Testaments that foretell His birth,” said Elder Evans.
Members of the Church are encouraged to share posts containing these images on their blogs or web pages or through Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest, Instagram, Tumblr, and other social media platforms. Each individual pane will be posted each Tuesday and Thursday through Christmas Day.
