Coverage of the October 2015 General Conference Saturday Afternoon Session

Latter-day Saints across the globe sustained Elder Ronald A. Rasband, Elder Gary E. Stevenson, and Elder Dale G. Renlund as new members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Saturday afternoon.
The sustaining of the new Church leaders—as well as the other General Authorities and officers of the Church—marked the opening moments of the session, the third general session of the 185th Semiannual General Conference of the Church.
President Thomas S. Monson presided at the session. President Henry B. Eyring, First Counselor in the First Presidency, conducted the sustainings. President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, Second Counselor in the First Presidency, conducted the session. Elder Terence M. Vinson and Elder Kazuhiko Yamashita offered prayers. Music was provided by a Primary choir from stakes in Riverton, Utah.
Elder Dallin H. Oaks of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles offered the closing remarks of the session, saying the Atonement of Jesus Christ offsets the two certainties of mortal life—death and the burden of sin. “But apart from death and sin, we have many other challenges as we struggle through mortality,“ he said. ”Because of that same Atonement, our Savior can provide us the strength we need to overcome these mortal challenges.”
