Coverage of the October 2016 General Conference Sunday Afternoon Session

The concluding session of the 186th Semiannual General Conference included messages from three members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles: Elder David A. Bednar, Elder Ronald A. Rasband, and Elder Dale G. Renlund. Their counsel focused on essential gospel principles such as exercising faith, service, remembering spiritual truths, and repentance.
Elder Rasband challenged members to never forget or ignore their spiritual experiences: “The Lord's desire is to enlighten and engage us in His work.”
In his talk, Elder Renlund called repentance—made possible through Christ's Atonement—the “good news of the gospel.”

Such basic yet sublime themes defined general conference as members of all backgrounds worldwide gathered to listen to the voices of prophets, apostles, and other inspired leaders.
President Thomas S. Monson, who spoke at the October 1 priesthood session and at the Sunday morning session, presided at the Sunday afternoon session. His First Counselor in the First Presidency, President Henry B. Eyring, conducted the meeting.
Additional talks were given by Elder Carl B. Cook, Elder Evan A. Schmutz, and Elder K. Brett Nattress, General Authority Seventies, along with Brother Brian K. Ashton, Second Counselor in the Sunday School General Presidency.
Music was provided by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Prayers were offered by Elder Enrique R. Falabella and Elder Erich W. Kopischke, General Authority Seventies.
