Dodger Stadium Hosts 2017 Mormon Night

LOS ANGELES
Latter-day Saint baseball fans in Southern California gathered to celebrate Mormon Night at Dodger Stadium on Friday, July 21.
This event, held for more than 40 years, is the largest and longest consecutive running community event held by the Dodgers.
The tradition is very popular with Church members, many of whom invite friends to attend with them. This year, more than 300 wards participated.
Elder Steven E. Snow, General Authority Seventy, attended and threw the ceremonial first pitch. Elder Bruce E. Ghent, Area Seventy, also attended and caught the first pitch.
Sisters Phyllis Snow and Kathryn Ghent were also on the field dressed in Dodger jerseys made by the Dodgers' tailor shop and were introduced to the crowd along with their husbands.
Mykel, an aspiring independent artist and songwriter from Highland, Utah, was selected by the Dodgers to sing the national anthem.

The Dodgers invited several Primary-age children onto the field during the event to visit with the players. The youth were also presented with a special Dodger T-shirt and an autographed baseball.
Elder Snow expressed his pleasure with the event and his appreciation of joining with the members of the Church in this fun summer tradition.
Several prominent Church leaders have attended this annual event over the years, including President Dieter F. Uchtdorf of the First Presidency; Elder L. Tom Perry, Elder M. Russell Ballard, Elder Robert D. Hales, Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, Elder Quentin L. Cook, Elder David A. Bednar, and Elder Neil L. Andersen of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles; former Relief Society General President Sister Linda K. Burton; and emeritus General Authority Seventy Elder Paul H. Dunn.
