Face to Face with Elder Rasband, Sister Oscarson, and Brother Owen

A Face to Face event for youth featuring Elder Ronald A. Rasband of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, Young Women general president Sister Bonnie L. Oscarson, and Young Men general president Brother Stephen W. Owen will be January 20, 2016.

Youth worldwide are invited to participate in the Church’s next live Face to Face event with special guests Elder Ronald A. Rasband of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, Young Women general president Sister Bonnie L. Oscarson, and Young Men general president Brother Stephen W. Owen on Wednesday, January 20, 2016, at 7:00 p.m. MST.
This Face to Face event will launch the annual Mutual theme for 2016: “Press Forward with Steadfastness in Christ.” Elder Rasband, Sister Oscarson, and Brother Owen will answer questions from the youth and share their testimonies of the Savior.
“I look forward to the next Face to Face event, where I’ll be privileged to participate with Sister Oscarson and Brother Owen, answering questions from the youth and bearing testimony together,” Elder Rasband said. “I love the youth of the Church, and any opportunity to interact with them is precious to me.”
Sister Oscarson said she too is excited to interact with the youth of the Church. “I can’t wait for the opportunity to hear what is on your minds, to have you share your testimonies with us, and to learn together,” she said.
One of the unique opportunities presented by the January Face to Face is the chance for youth to get to know a new Apostle. Brother Owen said, “We are excited for the opportunity our youth will have to meet one of the newest members of the Quorum of the Twelve. I am confident the youth will love Elder Rasband.”
Youth and youth leaders are encouraged to consider the Mutual theme and come to the event prepared to discuss what it means to them personally to press forward with steadfastness in Christ and what things in their lives make pressing forward a challenge.
Elder Rasband said the 2016 theme is “a timely message considering the challenges that our youth so bravely face in today’s world.”

Join the interactive event January 20 by watching the live stream on ChurchofJesusChrist.org or Mormon Channel. The event will be live in 11 languages.
Youth can participate using #LDSface2face to submit questions both before and during the event and to follow the conversation throughout the evening.
Technology has enabled the youth of the Church to interact in an unprecedented way. “Heavenly Father has inspired wonderful tools to help dissolve the geographical boundaries of our world,” Brother Owen said. “Our Face to Face events give youth the opportunity to gather together electronically, share gospel truths, feel the Spirit of the Lord, and strengthen each other in ways never before experienced in the history of the world.”
Parents and youth leaders can use this event as a family or Mutual night activity. Youth and young adults are encouraged to invite their friends.

Face to Face events
The January 2016 Face to Face is the fifth Face to Face event sponsored by the Church. Face to Face events feature special LDS guests answering real questions sent in by youth and are viewed by tens of thousands worldwide during and after the broadcasts.
“I am a longtime fan of the Face to Face events,” Elder Rasband said. “I love how they let youth around the world connect with each other and with Church leaders.
“It has also been inspiring to me to see how the youth are using social media to share messages from these events with a broad audience. My own children and grandchildren have enjoyed watching these events and participating through social media.”
In the October 2015 Face to Face with the Piano Guys, the musical group taught youth to put their faith first and rely on the Savior. Earlier in 2015 during Face to Face with Elder and Sister Bednar, youth heard from Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and his wife, Sister Susan Bednar. Past events featured David Archuleta and Lindsey Stirling, both popular musicians and returned missionaries, who answered questions about preparing for missions, sharing the gospel, maintaining standards, increasing self-worth, and much more.
“I have such great confidence in and love for the youth of the Church,” Sister Oscarson said. “I can’t wait to participate in another fun and inspiring live Face to Face event!”
