Groundbreakings Announced for Tucson and Concepción Temples

Artists' renditions of the Tucson Arizona Temple and the Concepción Chile Temple. Groundbreaking ceremonies will take place on October 17, 2015, at 10:00 a.m.

The Church has announced that the groundbreaking ceremonies for both the Tucson Arizona Temple and the Concepción Chile Temple will take place on October 17, 2015, at 10:00 a.m.

Attendance at these ceremonies is by invitation only, but the general public is invited to view the proceedings live from local meetinghouses.

Tucson Arizona Temple

The Tucson Arizona Temple will be the Church’s sixth temple in the state. Other Arizona temples are located in Mesa, Snowflake, The Gila Valley, Gilbert, and Phoenix. The temple was announced by President Thomas S. Monson at the October 2012 general conference.

The Tucson Temple site is located on N Skyline Drive.

Concepción Chile Temple

The Concepción Chile Temple will be the second temple in Chile; the other is the Santiago Chile Temple. The Concepción Temple was announced by President Thomas S. Monson at the October 2009 general conference.

The temple site is located at 1525 Pedro de Valdivia in Concepción, Chile.

The Church currently has 147 operating temples worldwide.
