Mormon.org is now available in 20 languages, meaning 90 percent of the Internet-using world can now learn more about the Church in their native language.

Mormon.org is available in the following languages: Armenian, Cebuano, Chinese, Dutch, English, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latvian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Tagalog, Thai, and Ukrainian.

The different language versions were launched between July 9 and August 30, 2012, and may be accessed by clicking on the language link at the bottom left of the site.

By mid-October, the English, French, German, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish versions of mormon.org will have video portraits featuring members of the Church from countries where those languages are spoken. All other mormon.org sites feature video portraits subtitled in the applicable language.

With the recent language expansion, more members than ever can easily contribute to the online conversation about the gospel. Individuals are encouraged to create their own mormon.org profiles in their preferred languages and share them with others.

“People who search the Internet for information are  interested in the opinions of their social circles, even giving their opinions more credence than what the Church says itself, which is why it's important that Church members create and share their own Mormon.org profile,” explained Ron Wilson, a senior manager with mormon.org.

Launched in 2001, mormon.org helps people get straightforward, honest answers to their questions about the Church through five major sections: Our Faith, Our People, Our Values, Visit Us, and Frequently Asked Questions.

A 2010 redesign allowed members around the world to begin supplying most of those answers via individual profiles. The pre-2010 form of the site still exists in Croatian, Czech, Danish, Finnish, Greek, Hungarian, Norse, Romanian, and Slovenian and is accessible via the language link.

Future plans for mormon.org include localization—crafting country-specific versions of the site.
