New Mission Presidents Called to Serve in 2016

Eight new mission presidents and their wives have been called by the First Presidency. They will begin their service in July.

Philippines Baguio Mission

Edeline P. and Dominic B. Bangal

Dominic Balcorta Bangal, 50, and Edeline Nicolas Pike Bangal, six children, Lucena 1st Ward, Lucena Philippines Stake: Philippines Baguio Mission, succeeding President Anthony John Balledos and Sister Carolyn Balledos. Brother Bangal serves as a stake president and is a former mission presidency counselor, stake president, district president, bishop, ward Young Men president, and missionary in the Philippines Baguio Mission. Coordinator, Seminaries and Institutes. Born in Quezon City, Philippines, to Benjamin Basila Bangal and Constancia Pitel Balcorta Bangal.

Sister Bangal serves as a ward Relief Society presidency counselor and is a former ward Young Women and Primary presidency counselor, branch Primary president, and branch Relief Society presidency counselor. Born in San Fernando, Philippines, to Eduardo David Pike and Angelita Lagrimas Nicolas Pike.

California Irvine Mission

Elizabeth B. and Samuel W. Clark

Samuel Wayne Clark Jr., 64, and Elizabeth Barton Clark, four children, Monument Park 11th Ward, Salt Lake Monument Park Stake: California Irvine Mission, succeeding President Von D. Orgill and Sister Sherri Orgill. The Clarks currently serve as area public affairs specialists. Brother Clark is a former Area Seventy, stake president, bishop, high councilor, ward Young Men president, and missionary in the French East Mission. President, Dale Barton Agency. Born in Salt Lake City to Samuel Wayne Clark and Ruby Lloyd Maughan Clark.

Sister Clark serves in a ward Relief Society presidency and is a former stake Relief Society presidency counselor; ward Young Women president; ward Relief Society, Young Women, and Primary presidency counselor; and Gospel Doctrine teacher. Born in Salt Lake City to Eliot Dale Barton and Mary Elizabeth Moreton Barton.

Chile Antofagasta Mission

Jacqueline and David Ferreira

Hernán David Ferreira Poblete, 47, and Jacqueline Elizabeth del Pino de Ferreira, three children, Villa Nonguen Ward, Concepcion Chile Andalien Stake: Chile Antofagasta Mission, succeeding President Craig L. Dalton and Sister Sandra E. Dalton. Brother Ferreira serves as an Area Seventy and is a former stake president, stake presidency counselor, bishop, high councilor, and missionary in the Argentina Cordoba Mission. Service manager, Ferreira Brothers. Born in Talcahuano, Chile, to Segundo Ferreira Valderrama and Marta Poblete Concha.

Sister Ferreira is a former Young Women presidency counselor, Sunday School teacher, seminary teacher, visiting teaching coordinator, and missionary in the Chile Antofagasta Mission. Born in Concepcion, Chile, to Ulises Del Pino and Aida del Carmen Cerro de Pino.

Brazil Curitiba Mission

Douglas K. and Cheri Hart

Douglas Keith Hart, 47, and Cherilyn Christensen Hart, five children, Butterfield Canyon 2nd Ward, Herriman Utah Butterfield Canyon Stake: Brazil Curitiba Mission, succeeding President Anderson M. Monteiro and Sister Jacqueline C. F. Monteiro. Brother Hart is a former stake presidency counselor, bishop, elders quorum president, ward Young Men president, ward Young Men presidency counselor, and missionary in the Brazil Porto Alegre Mission. Division director, Seminaries and Institutes. Born in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Keith Collins Hart and Janet Barrus Hart.

Sister Hart is a former ward Relief Society president, ward Young Women presidency counselor, and ward Primary presidency counselor. Born in Salt Lake City to Frederick Charles Christensen and Doris Ann Hogan Christensen.

Colorado Fort Collins Mission

Sean S. and Kristin K. McMurray

Sean Stewart McMurray, 54, and Kristin Kaye Harmer McMurray, eight children, Abingdon Ward, Kingsport Tennessee Stake: Colorado Fort Collins Mission, succeeding President Kelly W. Brown and Sister Sharon Brown. Brother McMurray serves as a stake president and is a former stake presidency counselor, bishop, high councilor, branch president, and missionary in the Australia Brisbane Mission. Vice president and chief executive officer, Mountain States Health Alliance. Born in Abington, Pennsylvania, to John Stewart McMurray and Laura Craft Hutchinson McMurray.

Sister McMurray serves as a seminary teacher and is a former stake and ward Primary president, ward Relief Society president, ward Primary presidency counselor, and Relief Society and Sunday School teacher. Born in Salt Lake City to Marvin Bliss Harmer and Kathryn Mortensen Harmer.

Canada Montréal Mission

Robert L. and Michelle L. Phillips

Robert Lee Phillips, 50, and Michelle Lyn Carlson Phillips, five children, Vienna Woods Ward, Meridian Idaho North Stake: Canada Montréal Mission, succeeding President Victor P. Patrick and Sister Elizabeth Patrick. Brother Phillips serves as a stake president and is a former bishop, elders quorum president, ward Young Men president, Primary teacher, and missionary in the Geneva Switzerland Mission. President, Hawkins-Smith Companies and Hawkins Companies. Born in Cortez, Colorado, to Dale Russell Phillips and Wanda Workman Phillips.

Sister Phillips serves as ward Primary achievement day leader and is a former ward Relief Society, Young Women, and Primary presidency counselor; Primary teacher; Young Women adviser; and Relief Society teacher. Born in Rochester, Minnesota, to Johan Otte Carlson and Kaye Hendricks Carlson.

Argentina Comodoro Rivadavia Mission

Claudio and Rosana Salerno

Claudio Daniel Salerno, 53, and Rosana Cristina Garcia de Salerno, one child, Ramos Mejia Ward, Buenos Aires Argentina Ramos Mejia Stake: Argentina Comodoro Rivadavia Mission, succeeding President Mark F. Rogers and Sister Gainell Rogers. Brother Salerno serves as a mission presidency counselor and is a former stake presidency counselor, bishop, high councilor, and stake Young Men president. Sister Salerno serves as a seminary supervisor and is a former stake Young Women president, stake Relief Society presidency counselor, ward Young Women president, and seminary teacher. Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to Angel Garcia and Placer Tomasa Ricon Garcia.

Ghana Accra West Mission

Jinny and Robert H. Simpson

Robert Harry Simpson, 58, and Jinny Atele Beatrice Poutoa Simpson, seven children, Liverpool 1st Ward, Liverpool Australia Stake: Ghana Accra West Mission, succeeding President Norman C. Hill and Sister Raelene B. Hill. Brother Simpson serves as an Area Seventy executive secretary and is a former mission presidency counselor, stake president, stake presidency counselor, bishop, and missionary in the Fiji Suva Mission. Self-employed CPA and registered tax agent. Born in Christchurch, New Zealand, to Herbert John Archibald Simpson and Joan Florence Kittelty Simpson.

Sister Simpson is a former stake and ward Young Women presidency counselor, ward Relief Society and Primary president, seminary teacher, Gospel Doctrine teacher, and nursery leader. Born in Apia, Western Samoa, to Simi Poutoa and Lele Annette Ahmu Poutoa.
