New Temple President and Matron Called for Jordan River Utah Temple

William Arthur and Sharon Lynn Schaefermeyer have been called by the First Presidency to preside over the Jordan River Utah Temple, effective November 1, replacing James Reed and Vicki Aileen Matsumori, who were called by the First Presidency but are unable to serve due to health reasons.

William Arthur Schaefermeyer, 71, Hunter 15th Ward, Salt Lake Hunter East Stake, was called as president of the Jordan River Utah Temple, succeeding President Robert P. Haight. President Schaefermeyer’s wife, Sharon Lynn Bodily Schaefermeyer, will serve as temple matron, succeeding Sister Dorothy H. Haight. He serves as a patriarch, stake institute teacher, temple preparation teacher, and sealer in the Jordan River Utah Temple. He has served as president of the Pennsylvania Philadelphia Mission, stake president, bishop, and high councilor. Retired director of studios and events for the Church, he was born in San Diego, California, to Arthur Eugene and Mary Vera Aycock Schaefermeyer.

Sister Schaefermeyer serves as a temple preparation teacher. She served with her husband as he presided over the Pennsylvania Philadelphia Mission. She has also served as stake Primary president, ward Relief Society president, and a counselor in ward Relief Society, Young Women, and Primary presidencies. She was born in Vernal, Utah, to Reed Fisher and Olen Orabus Bodily.
