New Temple President Called in Manaus, Brazil
The First Presidency called a new temple president and matron. They will begin their service later this year.

Edson José Martins Lopes, 67, Ferreira Ward, São Paulo Brazil Ferreira Stake, called as president of the Manaus Brazil Temple, succeeding President Ulisses Pereira Filho. President Lopes’s wife, María Luiza Carvalho Lopes, will serve as temple matron, succeeding Sister María Olivia Ferreira Pereira. He serves as a patriarch. He has served as president of the Brazil Maceió Mission, stake president, bishop, district president, branch president, and as a Brazil Area translation manager. A retired university professor, he was born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, to José Martins Lopes Filho and Anna Toledo Lopes.
Sister Lopes served with her husband as he presided over the Brazil Maceió Mission. She has also served as stake and ward Relief Society president, ward Relief Society board member, and temple ordinance worker. She was born in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, to Almiro José Carvalho and Manoela Junqueira Carvalho.
