- The new video highlights the sacrifice of ancient and modern prophets and disciples who preserved and provided the scriptures.
“Study the scriptures carefully, deliberately. Ponder and pray over them. Scriptures are revelation, and they will bring added revelation.” —Elder D. Todd Christofferson of the Quorum of the Twelve
“Scriptures Legacy,” the video the Church produced to honor the sacrifices ancient and modern prophets and disciples made to preserve the scriptures we have today, is now available on LDS.org and YouTube.
Two versions of the video are available: an official version and the extended broadcast version that was aired during general conference weekend April 5-6.
The official version can be found on the Heritage, Study, and Blessings page of LDS.org. Both the official version and the extended broadcast version are also located in the LDS.org Media Library listed as Scriptures Legacy and Scriptures Legacy—Extended Broadcast Version.
The video focuses on the sacrifices made throughout history to preserve the word of God and includes portrayals of William Tyndale, Book of Mormon prophets, the young girls who recovered pages from the Book of Commandments after they were scattered by a mob, and Christ’s visit to the Americas as recorded in 3 Nephi 11.
“The scriptures remind us of what we knew in our premortal life,” Elder Christofferson says in the video. “And they expand our memory in another sense by teaching us about people and events that we did not experience personally. These scriptures take us to significant events we did not experience in person. They are a touchstone of measuring correctness and truth, for teaching us selflessness and charity, strengthening our faith and lighting our path.”
“Study the scriptures carefully, deliberately. Ponder and pray over them. Scriptures are revelation, and they will bring added revelation,” said Elder Christofferson. “Consider the magnitude of our blessing to have the Holy Bible and some 900 additional pages of scripture, including the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price. Surely with this blessing the Lord is telling us that our need for constant recourse to the scriptures is greater than in any previous time. May we feast continuously on the words of Christ that will tell us all things we should do.”
