This Easter season, the Church is inviting the world to find the inner peace that comes from the life and teachings of the Savior Jesus Christ through its “Prince of Peace” initiative, which begins March 31.

Article Highlights

  • “Prince of Peace” invites you to find the inner peace that comes from the life and teachings of the Savior Jesus Christ.
  • Participate March 31–April 16, 2017.

“And his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” —Isaiah 9:6

During the past few Christmas and Easter holiday seasons, the Church has sponsored worldwide efforts to share simple yet powerful messages about Jesus Christ.

The Church launched its first Easter initiative in 2014 with a weeklong campaign titled “Because of Him.” The 2016 Easter theme, “Follow Him,” was inspired by the “Hallelujah” chorus from Handel’s Messiah.

The messages and opportunities to participate have helped both members and nonmembers keep Christ as the focus of these religious holidays. The moving videos and messages shared through social media, advertisements on buildings and vehicles, and at visitors’ centers typically reach tens of millions of people worldwide.

This Easter season, the Church's “Prince of Peace” initiative invites the world to find the inner peace that comes from the life and teachings of the Savior Jesus Christ.

Appropriately timed to coincide with Holy Week—from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday, April 9–16—the purpose of the “Prince of Peace” initiative is threefold:

  • Invite all to come unto Christ.
  • Learn principles of peace from the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6).
  • Share ways to find peace through the Savior.

Invite all to come unto Christ

Beginning March 31, visit the “Prince of Peace” website on mormon.org to watch the 2:33-minute video illustrating the role of Jesus Christ as the “Prince of Peace,” and then invite others to do the same. The video will be available in 33 languages, and the website is in 29 languages on March 31.

Learn principles of peace from the Prince of Peace

During Holy Week (April 9-16), plan to learn more about eight principles of peace: faith, compassion, forgiveness, repentance, gratitude, God’s word, prayer, and hope. The Easter website and Church social media sites will feature one principle each day of Holy Week with a video about an individual’s experience finding peace by living that principle.

Share ways to find peace through the Savior

Watch for the videos and related content on the Church's social media pages (FacebookTwitterGoogle+Pinterest, and Instagram) or the Prince of Peace website on Mormon.org in English and Spanish. Visit the Easter website on Mormon.org (available on March 31) to see what others are doing to share the message. Then be sure to share your own efforts and experiences. As you post messages, please include #PrinceofPeace. Find a few resources for sharing and helping others become aware of the initiative now.
