Reaching one’s 102nd birthday is a rare and momentous occasion. For centenarian Erma Rosenhan—born in 1915—her March 1 birthday celebration was made even more memorable thanks to a special guest.

President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, Second Counselor in the First Presidency, stopped by the Church History Library to offer birthday wishes to Sister Rosenhan, who has done family history work for more than 400,000 of her German ancestors.

A longtime employee in the Church’s financial department, Sister Rosenhan served a mission as a young woman to President Uchtdorf’s German homeland.

“She finished her mission two years before I was born—and I’m 76 years old,” marveled President Uchtdorf.

The Church leader said Sister Rosenhan radiates goodness even as she goes about her daily labors. “She is an example for us to stay positive and joyful and hopeful at any time in our lives, and at any age,” President Uchtdorf said.

Sister Rosenhan is a familiar and beloved face at Church headquarters. She has dedicated decades of her life to researching family history and preparing names for temple work.

“I really admire her,” said President Uchtdorf. “If I am privileged to live as long as she has, I want to be like her.”
