2012 Sunday Curriculum Announced

  • 23 November 2011

Beginning on January 1, Church members worldwide will begin studying new curriculum for 2012. Students and teachers can find Melchizedek Priesthood and Relief Society, Primary, Sunday School, Young Men, and Young Women materials both online and in print.

Melchizedek Priesthood and Relief Society

After two years of studying the revised Gospel Principles manual, this year Melchizedek Priesthood holders and Relief Society sisters will pick up the Teaching of Presidents of the Church series again, beginning with a year of studying the new George Albert Smith manual during second and third Sundays. The manual is available online, to be printed, downloaded, or shared. It is also available for purchase through the Online Store.

Areas without access to this manual should study Duties and Blessings of the Priesthood, Part B and The Latter-day Saint Woman, Part B during the second and third Sundays. Both are available online and through store.ChurchofJesusChrist.org.

Primary

Manuals for each age group are available online and through store.ChurchofJesusChrist.org in multiple languages:

Nursery (ages 18 months–2 years): Behold Your Little Ones: Nursery Manual

Sharing Time (ages 3–11 years): 2012 Outline for Sharing Time: Choose the Right (Copies are automatically sent to each unit.)

Sunbeam Class (age 3 years): Primary 1: I Am a Child of God

CTR 4, 5, 6, and 7 (ages 4–7 years): Primary 2: Choose the Right A

Valiant 8, 9, 10, and 11 (ages 8–11 years): Primary 4: Book of Mormon

Sunday School

The Sunday School course of study for 2012 for all adults and youth ages 14 to 18 is the Book of Mormon.

Book of Mormon Gospel Doctrine Teacher’s Manual is available online for the teacher, as well as the Book of Mormon Class Member Study Guide. They are also available in printed format in dozens of languages at store.ChurchofJesusChrist.org.

Youth ages 12–13 will study from the Preparing for Exaltation Teacher’s Manual, available both online and in print. This manual is used during alternating years and focuses on basic doctrines, principles, and gospel ordinances.

New members, investigators, and others who need basic gospel instruction will study from Gospel Principles, or, if that is not available, from Gospel Fundamentals, both available at store.ChurchofJesusChrist.org.

Additional online materials include the Book of Mormon in English audio format at scriptures.ChurchofJesusChrist.org. When in a chapter online, just click “Listen” in the right margin to access the audio version. It is also available in English, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish at audio.ChurchofJesusChrist.org or iTunes.

Young Men and Young Women

In 2012, priesthood quorum advisers and Young Women instructors will teach from Aaronic Priesthood Manual 1 and Young Women Manual 1. Both the Aaronic Priesthood manuals and Young Women manuals are available in print in more than 50 languages, as well as online.

Resource guides that supplement both the Aaronic Priesthood and the Young Women manuals are also available online in multiple languages. These guides are not for purchase and are accessible only online.

In areas where these manuals are not available, teachers are to use Duties and Blessings of the Priesthood, Part A and The Latter-day Saint Woman, Part A during the first, fourth, and fifth Sundays. During the second and third Sundays, they should use Duties and Blessings of the Priesthood, Part B and The Latter-day Saint Woman, Part B. These resources are available in multiple languages on store.ChurchofJesusChrist.org.

Ordering Materials

Most of the above materials can be viewed and downloaded online at ChurchofJesusChrist.org/manuals. In some areas of the Church materials are automatically sent to wards and branches.

A letter from the Office of the Presiding Bishopric to Church leaders in the United States, Canada, and Australia instructs all curriculum orders to be placed at store.ChurchofJesusChrist.org by December 11, 2011, in order for all materials to arrive in time for the upcoming year.

Clerks, bishopric members, and branch presidency members are encouraged to order printed materials, where needed, through the Online Store. Alternately, orders may be placed through the Global Service Center at 1-800-537-5971.
