Auditions Set for Bells on Temple Square

  • 9 December 2010

Watch the Bells on Temple Square rehearse, along with an interview of conductor Tom Waldron.

The Bells on Temple Square is looking for new members to participate beginning in 2011. To join, you must be between 20 and 45 years of age, live within 100 miles of Temple Square, and be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in good standing.

While prior bell-ringing experience is preferred, talented musicians without experience are welcome to apply. Individuals selected to audition will participate in a series of bell workshops held on Saturday mornings during the month of January. New bell ringers will be selected from workshop participants.

Scott Hixson, a current bell ringer, had no experience ringing bells when he auditioned, but was able to join the bell choir after successfully passing a series of tests in the initial audition and performing well in the workshops. He has been with the Bells on Temple Square since 2005.
