Choir Tour Day 7: Sounds of the Sabbath

Whether on a cruise ship, at the BYU Jerusalem Center, or in a hotel ballroom, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square begin each Sunday on tour with a sacrament meeting.
This tour’s Sunday meeting, however, held a special surprise. One of the bus drivers, for whom this is her fourth choir tour, announced that she and her sister had decided to be baptized.
“What a blessing it is to know that the missionary work of the choir and orchestra has had such an influence,” said second violinist in the orchestra Jane Clark.
Elder Jay E. Jensen of the Presidency of the Seventy and his wife, Lona, who have accompanied the choir throughout the tour, were present at the sacrament meeting.
Elder Jensen began by expressing a new appreciation for the members of the choir and orchestra.
That afternoon the choir visited Niagara Falls.
“The sound of the waterfall is indescribable, and the sight of such vast amounts of water spilling into the gorge below is awe-inspiring,” Sister Clark said. “When the wind changed direction, the mist became just like rain. Some of us were grateful for the umbrellas we had with us!”
The rest of the day was spent traveling to Toronto, Ontario, Canada, where the choir and orchestra will wrap up their 2011 tour with two performances at Roy Thomson Hall on Monday.
