The Church has invited members to submit high-quality music and audio recording files for use on Mormon Channel Radio and in other Church media products. Members can participate by submitting their files to Get Involved: Radio or Get Involved: Music.

Get Involved: Radio

Members of the Church who have professional experience with radio can create specific programming of various lengths similar to what can be found on Mormon Channel Radio. Ideas or suggestions for programming can also be submitted through the site.

Amateurs can contribute as well. One option—and an immediate need—is to submit a recording of one’s testimony, which should focus on one element or specific principle of the gospel. There is no limit on the number of submissions any person can make.

Regardless of whether the radio material is submitted by a professional or an amateur, files should be submitted online in the preferred format listed on the Radio Standards page.

“This is a great opportunity for members because they can share their testimonies and experiences with the world,” said Ashton Smith, a producer for the Media Services Department.

Other audio recordings can be about momentous life experiences, conversion stories, answers to prayer, personal revelation, family traditions, and favorite scriptures. These and other ongoing and immediate needs are highlighted on the Radio Needs section of create.lds.org. All accounts must be true, under six minutes, and should be first person, meaning that the person whose voice is recorded is the one who had the experience.

To submit material click on the Submit Now button on the right side of the Radio tab on create.lds.orgGuidelines for material as well as step-by-step submission instructions are provided. Members can submit radio material by telephone, via e-mail, or by mail. They can also set up an appointment to discuss what they would like to share.

Get Involved: Music

In addition to audio voice recordings, the Church needs digital music files of professional or near-professional quality to use on Mormon Channel Radio and the LDS Media Library.

Musicians can submit high-quality instrumental or vocal underscore music, recordings of children singing, recordings of hymns, and recordings of original works.

“People can be touched very sincerely by music. This is a great opportunity for people to share their talents and touch people around the world,” said Anthony Park, a producer for the Media Services Department.

Members should submit only music that they will allow the Church and Church members to use for multiple purposes. While contributors will retain the copyright for the music, by submitting their music they agree to allow the Church to use it for any purpose and Church members to use it for noncommercial purposes.

Currently, create.lds.org is able to accept arrangements of vocal and instrumental performances of music from a list of public domain hymns from the Church Hymns book or the list of public domain songs from the Children’s Songbook.

Members can also contribute original music—either instrumental or vocals—that they have composed.

To submit music files click Submit Now on the right side of the Get Involved: Music page. Detailed instructions on submitting music are available on the Submit Music page, but before submitting, contributors should read the Music Standards page, which specifies technical requirements.

Contributors are encouraged to submit new arrangements of hymns, original compositions, and any other uplifting music. Those interested in submitting sheet music can find more information under the Church Music section of LDS.org
