El Salvador Youth Testify of Temple Blessings in New Video

In many instances, prior to a new temple being dedicated, members of that country organize a cultural celebration to share their culture with visiting Church leaders and express their gratitude for the temple.

On Saturday, December 10, 2011, youth of the Church in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, will participate in a cultural music and dance presentation prior to the dedication of the Quetzaltenango Guatemala Temple on Sunday, December 11.

These events follow the celebration and dedication of another temple in Central America earlier this year—the San Salvador El Salvador Temple, dedicated in August.

A new video on youth.ChurchofJesusChrist.org shares the experience of three youth from El Salvador whose hopes are being realized with the recent dedication of the temple.

“When there’s a temple here in El Salvador.” That was the answer Kevin Salas’s father would give when ward members would ask him when he and his wife would be sealed in the temple.

Siblings Kevin and Jacqueline Salas’s parents had been inactive for some time. The brother and sister, however, had continued to attend Church meetings each Sunday. They prayed that their parents would return to Church activity.

Temple Blessings in El Salvador” captures the stories of these siblings, along with another local youth—Ingrid Delgado, as well as the cultural celebration and dedication of the San Salvador El Salvador Temple by President Henry B. Eyring, First Counselor in the First Presidency, in August 2011.

In the video, Ingrid—whose bedroom walls are covered in Mormonads—describes the temple as a special place to get away from the things of world.

“In no other place will I be able to feel so close to my Father in Heaven,” she says.

For Kevin the temple is a reminder to remain pure, while Jacqueline commented that the cultural celebration was a chance to dance for her Heavenly Father.

The siblings took their parents to the temple open house, and since then, Kevin says, the family has regained perspective.

Now the answer to the question, “When are you going to be sealed in the temple?” is, “The sooner … the better.”
