POCATELLO, IDAHO

A missionary assigned to the Idaho Pocatello Mission who was critically injured September 3 in a two-car accident in eastern Idaho died September 6.

Elder Taylor Ward, 19, of Vacaville, California, was a passenger in a car that collided with another vehicle near Rockford, Idaho, according to police reports.

Elder Ward’s companion, Elder John Floyd, 20, of Deep Run, North Carolina, was treated for his injuries at an area hospital and later released. The driver of the second vehicle suffered minor injuries.

All involved in the accident were wearing seat belts.

“Every member of the Church feels the loss of a missionary,” said Church spokeswoman Ruth Todd. “We are deeply saddened and share with his family, friends, and fellow missionaries in their grief. We extend to them our love, our prayers, and our deepest gratitude.”
