LDS Olympic Chaplain Appointed

When Olympians and Paralympians descend on London this summer there will be a number of LDS hopefuls among them. One resource they will have at their disposal is President Alan Phillips, who will serve as a Chaplain for all LDS athletes. President Phillips presides over the Hyde Park Stake, which includes much of central London and the majority of the Olympic and Paralympic venues. As an Olympic Chaplain, President Phillips will have access to the Olympic Village and will be on call to provide any support these athletes and their families need.
President Phillips commented, “We appreciate the London Organising Committee’s willingness to provide our members who are in London to compete with access to ecclesiastical support, and we are very much looking forward to the commencement of the games in London. The renovations of the Hyde Park building in central London were recently completed and the building was re-dedicated just in time for the Games. We look forward to having these athletes and their families join us in worship while they are in London and hope that they enjoy our beautiful new building as much as we do.”
