Perpetual Education Fund a “Huge Blessing”

When Eduardo Andrés Vergara Silva, from Chile, returned home from a full-time mission in Colombia, he wanted to continue his education but was unable to enroll in school because of his financial situation.
“I heard about the Church’s Perpetual Education Fund, and my institute teacher encouraged me to apply. It wasn’t easy for me to go to school, have a family, and work part-time, but I knew that if I could achieve my goal of graduating, I could bless my family with a better life. Thanks to the PEF, I was able to graduate and become a physical therapist. I now work in a clinic and train students who come from the university to do their internships.

Eduardo’s experience is similar to many Church members throughout the world who are benefiting from the Perpetual Education Fund.
Charlotte Akua Owusu-Densu, from Ghana, is another PEF participant whose entire family is benefiting from the contributions of Church members.
“I learned about the Perpetual Education Fund from two PEF missionaries who interviewed me and encouraged me to apply for a loan. One family home evening, my family and I reviewed together all the requirements for receiving a PEF loan. I am the second of four children in my family, and my three siblings agreed that they wanted to help me get my education because I was older and would be able to help them pay for their own education when I graduated. My family decided to cut their food budget so that we could afford to make the monthly loan payment. My father is so grateful for the PEF program because there was no other way for him to pay for his children’s education.
“I am now in my third year of school, preparing to become a teacher, and I look forward to graduating soon. I wish to thank all who contribute to the Perpetual Education Fund, and I thank my family for making sacrifices to allow me to make my PEF payments and go to school.”
