Prophets and Apostles Speak Today is a website designed to keep members informed of the ministry of the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

To “the uttermost parts of the earth”—that’s where Acts of the Apostles states that the Twelve Apostles are to bear witness of Christ. That New Testament book of scripture records the ministry of the Apostles as they continued building the Church that the Savior had established.

Today the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles continue that work. And just as the book of Acts records the works of the ancient Apostles, a new section of ChurchofJesusChrist.org,Prophets and Apostles Speak Today, provides members with an account of the ministry and teachings of the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles as they go to “the uttermost parts of the earth.”

Originally such accounts were to be an extension of the Church magazines; instead, the content grew and evolved to become its own website. Richard Romney, managing editor and project manager for the site, said that the purpose of the project was to make the words of the Brethren readily accessible.

“There is so much that the Brethren are doing that I think most members would be amazed at how much they accomplish and how specifically guided by the Spirit they are,” Brother Romney said. “They are genuinely concerned with members around the world and also with each other.”

While other forums—such as general conference coverage—provide members with the teachings of the Brethren, Brother Romney said that the site’s goal is to show the ministry of latter-day prophets and apostles. He said that instead of just focusing on the teachings, the site also focuses on the people who have been taught.

“These men go about doing good. Their job is to represent the Savior and minister as He would minister,” Brother Romney said.

But that doesn’t mean that their teachings are excluded. The site includes coverage of what the Apostles say when they visit members throughout the world because, as Brother Romney says, it is important to let members around the world know what doctrine the Apostles teach. This includes coverage of what they are teaching from Church headquarters as well as what they teach in their worldwide travels.

Why their teachings matter is explained in a section of the site titled “What Are Prophets and Apostles?,” which explains what prophets and apostles are and what they do.

The ChurchofJesusChrist.org home page links directly to Prophets and Apostles Speak Today, or members can go directly to prophets.ChurchofJesusChrist.org. The site features articles, videos, and visuals that are rotated and updated weekly.

Also on the site are links to important documents such as “The Family: A Proclamation to the World,” and “The Living Christ: The Testimony of the Apostles,” both important documents from modern-day prophets and apostles.

Upcoming site features include biographies of each of the 15 men who comprise the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and interactive maps showing the ministry of the Brethren.
