Sometimes it can be a challenge to craft a family home evening or Primary lesson to match the needs of the children in a family or classroom. Now it’s easier than ever.

The Resources for Teaching Childrensection on ChurchofJesusChrist.org helps you find stories, activities,Friend and Liahona articles, and other Church-approved media for teaching children at home or in church. Part of the site is available in Portuguese and Spanish.

To get to the site, type http://lessonhelps.churchofjesuschrist.org into your browser. Or, go to churchofjesuschrist.org/friend and click on “Teaching Resources” in the left-hand navigation column. “We cannot underestimate the importance of seizing every opportunity to teach our children—both in formal settings such as family home evening and in spontaneous conversations,” says Sister Rosemary M. Wixom, Primary general president. “When we as parents and teachers fill our minds with gospel truths from the resources that are available, teaching opportunities will present themselves. We will know the words to say, and the Spirit will teach our children,” she said.

The Resources for Teaching Children section has four parts.

Primary Lessons and Resources
Primary Lessons and Resources can help Primary teachers find supplemental material for their Sunday lessons. Simply click on the lesson number and a list appears with links to stories, poems, coloring pages, puzzles, videos, and sheet music—all relating to that particular lesson’s topics.

Resources by Topic
Resources by Topic can help parents planning family home evening find stories, activities, and media organized into more than 140 gospel topics.

Many of these topics have already been translated for Spanish and Portuguese versions of the site. And additional translated topics, generally aligning with the sharing time themes, are being posted at the beginning of each month.  “This is a wonderful resource to help parents and teachers of children who speak Spanish and Portuguese find stories and other resources,” said Sister Wixom.

For the topic list in Spanish, go to ChurchofJesusChrist.org/liahona?lang=spa and click on “Resources for Teaching Children” in the left-hand navigation column. The Portuguese list can be found by going to ChurchofJesusChrist.org/liahona?lang=por

Search by Primary lesson, topic, or category on the Resources for Teaching Children page to find material for enriching your lessons at church or home.

Resources by Category
Resources by Category can help you find specific types of resources—such as scripture figures, crafts, and plays to use in the classroom and family home evening.

Weekly Thoughts and Tips
You can find helpful teaching tips and thoughts written by LDS parents as well as members of the Primary general board in Weekly Thoughts and Tips, which is updated each Friday.

“If we don’t teach our children, the world will,” says Sister Wixom. “Children’s minds are soft and open to instruction. What we want them to know five years from now we need to teach them today.” The Resources for Teaching Children site is helping parents, teachers, and leaders keep the children in their lives on the path back to Heavenly Father.
