Participants of the 2016 seminar for new missionary training center presidents and directors of visitors’ centers and historic sites spent four days focusing on the Church’s missionary purpose—to invite others to come to Christ.

Eight new missionary training center presidents and their wives and 15 new directors of visitors’ centers and historic sites and their wives gathered in Provo, Utah, January 11 through January 13 and in Salt Lake City on January 14 for training and instruction.

They learned from members of the Missionary Executive Council, chaired by Elder Dallin H. Oaks of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, and by other General Authorities who currently have assignments in the Missionary Department.

Church leaders asked the new MTC and visitors’ center and historic sites leaders to come to the seminar “prepared to learn,” so that each would “have a revelatory experience.”

President Garry K. Moore, who will serve in the Peru MTC, said as he participated in the seminar and prepared for his new assignment a “flood of ideas” came to him.

Sister Esther J. Ward, who will serve in the Oakland Temple Visitors’ Center, said preparing for the conference allowed her to “learn at full capacity.”

All the new MTC presidents and visitors’ center and historic sites directors will begin their service this month.
