Press Leader Visits Salt Lake City

Canadian-born Lord Thomson of Fleet, head of the world’s largest publishing empire, visited in Salt Lake City during June Conference and was an observer at many of the conference activities as a guest of President Harold B. Lee. While in Utah, Lord Thomson, who resides in London, England, and his son Kenneth of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, met with representatives of the news media (left). Lord Thomson’s enterprises include ownership of 260 newspapers and television and radio stations around the world, Britain’s largest travel agency, and oil developments in the North Sea. He hosted a special luncheon in London for President Lee last fall.
