Mother and Child
January 1976

“Mother and Child,” Ensign, Jan. 1976, 71

Mother and Child

I know not your name

Nor how you smile or cry.

We have not met formally,

Nor whispered together in friendship

Nor wept in sorrow.

Yet I know you,

In that realm given to us alone,

For we are comrades of a solitary kind,

I, your mother, and you,

My yet unborn child.
