Kimball broke ground for the Papeete Tahiti Temple on 13 February 1981, he prayed that it would be a “light to all in these islands.” The temple was dedicated by President Gordon B. Hinckley two and one-half years later, 27–29 October 1983.

The Washington Temple is located on a wooded, fifty-seven acre site in Kensington, Maryland, a suburb of Washington, D.C. The temple is a modern, stylized adaption of the Salt Lake Temple. It was dedicated 19–22 November 1974 by President Spencer W. Kimball.
