Saturday Morning, 3 October 1987 General Session

The Mormon Youth Chorus, directed by Robert C. Bowden, with organist Clay Christiansen, sang “More Holiness Give Me” by Bliss (Hymns, 1985, no. 131), “The Lord Is My Shepherd” by Koschat/Montgomery (Hymns, 1985, no. 108; arr. Bowden, manuscript), “Rock of Ages” by Hastings/Toplady (Hymns, 1985, no. 111; arr. Bowden, manuscript), “Though Deepening Trials” by Careless/Snow (Hymns, 1985, no. 122), “Praise to the Man” by Phelps (Hymns, 1985, no. 27), and “O Divine Redeemer” by Gounod. The congregation sang “How Firm a Foundation” by Keen (Hymns, 1985, no. 85).

Saturday Afternoon, 3 October 1987 General Session

The Primary Children’s Choir from the Sandy Utah Region, directed by Tricia Swanson, with organist John Longhurst, sang “Where Love Is” by Kjar/Doxey/Smith (More Songs for Children, p. 50), “Thirteenth Article of Faith” by Watkins (More Songs for Children, p. 46), “Search, Ponder, and Pray” by Black/Milne (1988 Children’s Sacrament Meeting Presentation), “We’ll Bring the World His Truth” by Perry (1986 Children’s Sacrament Meeting Presentation), “Faith” by Moody/Jackson (More Songs for Children, p. 2), and “Beautiful Savior (Crusader’s Hymn)” (arr. Wolford, manuscript). The congregation sang “I Am a Child of God” by Pettit/Randall (Hymns, 1985, no. 301).

Saturday Evening, 3 October 1987 Priesthood Session

A combined men’s choir from the Tabernacle Choir and the Mormon Youth Chorus, directed by Jerold D. Ottley and Robert C. Bowden, with organist Robert Cundick, sang “The Spirit of God” by Phelps (Hymns, 1985, no. 2; arr. Manookin, manuscript), “For the Strength of the Hills” by Stephens/Hemans (Hymns, 1985, no. 35; arr. Durham, Pioneer Music Press, Inc.), “Hosanna” by Hughes/Nelson (manuscript), and “Rise Up, O Men of God” by Asper/Merrill (Hymns, 1985, no. 323). The congregation sang “Redeemer of Israel” by Lewis/Phelps (Hymns, 1985, no. 6).

The Tabernacle Choir, directed by Jerold D. Ottley and Donald Ripplinger, with organist Robert Cundick, sang “The Morning Breaks” by Careless/Pratt (Hymns, 1985, no. 1), “The Lord My Pasture Will Prepare” by Bortniansky/Addison (Hymns, 1985, no. 109), “I Will Lift Up Mine Eyes” by Sowerby (Boston Music Company), “Lovely Appear” by Gounod; arr.
