Kimball home in Nauvoo, shown with the Nauvoo Temple in the background, was erected in 1845. The Kimball family lived there for only five months. Unable to sell the home before their departure from Nauvoo, they abandoned it on 4 February 1846 to make the trek west. Today, the home is one of numerous homes visited by tourists in Nauvoo.
