“And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths” (Isa. 2:2–3).

This year we celebrate the one hundredth anniversary of the dedication of the “mountain of the Lord’s house”—the Salt Lake Temple—shown here as it neared completion in 1892. To the left of the temple are the Tabernacle and the Assembly Hall.

Inside back cover: View down South Temple, by Rebecca W. Hartvigsen, watercolor, 22″ x 30″, 1988. A look at the north side of South Temple Street between Main Street, on the west (far left), and State Street. From the west: The multipurpose Joseph Smith Memorial Building stands as a tribute to the Prophet of the Restoration; the Church Administration Building houses the offices of the First Presidency, the Quorum of the Twelve, and a number of other General Authorities; Brigham Young built and lived in both the Lion House and the Beehive House; the Eagle Gate spans State Street at the right. Temple Square is immediately west of this block.
